Driving homeownership – City’s FestiveDeedsChallenge heads to Wallacedene

20 November 2023

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Carl Pophaim and officials in Human Settlements delivered title deeds to qualifying beneficiaries in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein on Friday, 17 November 2023. The City’s new #FestiveDeedsChallenge is aiming to make 1 000 new qualifying homeowners by the end of December.

‘The City is on a mission and we are in communities delivering title deeds to qualifying beneficiaries. Our Human Settlements Directorate has made excellent progress since the launch of our campaign and we are working hard so that we deliver 1 000 title deeds and keys by the end of the festive season.

‘On Friday, 17 November 2023, we celebrated with the families in Wallacedene and it was an absolute privilege to be a part of their special day. Over recent weeks, we have assisted beneficiaries in Bonteheuwel, Nomzamo, Heideveld, Lentegeur, Belhar and other areas. The #FestiveDeedsChallenge campaign aims to find more beneficiaries with better tracking and tracing and we have committed R21,6 million this year to delivering title deeds to our qualifying beneficiaries.

‘We are looking forward to assisting many more beneficiaries and we ask all our beneficiaries to come forward if they were meant to receive a title deed but have never received one,’ said Councillor Carl Pophaim.

More events, door-to-door visits are planned across the metro over the coming weeks as City teams move to meet the challenge head on.

Beneficiaries who have never received a deed, are encouraged to visit:
